Exterior painting in North Bay and Ottawa typically costs $3,000 to $12,000 or more, depending on home size, height, siding type, and prep. All In One Painting power-washes, scrapes, sands, repairs wood, caulks, spot-primes, and applies two coats of premium Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior, Regal Select Exterior, or Dulux Diamond Exterior to siding, trim, soffits, fascia, doors, and shutters across both branches: North Bay and Nipissing (Callander, Corbeil, Powassan, Sturgeon Falls, Mattawa) and Ottawa and the National Capital Region (Kanata, Barrhaven, Stittsville, Orleans). Exterior season runs late May through mid-September, when overnight lows stay reliably above 10°C and acrylic exterior paints cure properly.
Northern Ontario is hard on exterior paint. UV bleaches south-facing walls. Freeze-thaw cycles open hairline cracks every spring. Lake-effect snow loads, salt off the road in winter, and pollen and pine sap in shoulder season all attack the film. The difference between an exterior that lasts 12 years and one that's peeling in 5 is prep. Not paint brand, not painter speed, not price per gallon. Prep.
We don't cut prep to win bids. Every exterior quote includes power-washing, scraping every flake of loose paint, sanding feathered edges smooth, replacing rotten boards before paint touches them, recaulking failed window and trim joints, and spot-priming every bare-wood patch. The quote line-items each of these so you see what you're paying for and where corners would be cut on a cheaper bid.
Modern acrylic exterior paints need overnight lows above 10°C to cure properly. Below that, the film never fully bonds, and the next freeze-thaw cycle starts pulling it loose. That's why exterior quotes in May get scheduled for June, and why August calls for September starts are sometimes turned away.
We book the season tight. By mid-July most of our slots are filled. The earlier you call, the better the scheduling options, especially for jobs that need cedar siding repair, fascia replacement, or two-storey scaffolding setup before paint even begins.
A five-step process every exterior job follows. We don't skip steps to lower a bid. If a step doesn't apply to your house, we tell you, and we adjust the price down.
Pressure-wash the entire house to strip dirt, mildew, chalk, and loose paint. Bleach treatment on north and east faces where moss and mildew grow. Surfaces dry a minimum 48 hours before any paint touches them.
All loose, peeling, and failing paint scraped off by hand. Edges sanded smooth so the new paint film lays flat instead of telegraphing every old paint line. Lead-paint testing on pre-1978 homes before any scraping begins.
Replace rotten siding boards, fascia, or trim with matching profile lumber. Recaulk failed joints around windows, doors, and trim with a 50-year polyurethane sealant. Knots get a stain-blocking primer so they don't bleed through the finish.
Spot-prime every bare-wood patch with the correct primer for the surface: oil-based for cedar tannins, acrylic bonding for vinyl, masonry primer for stucco. Full primer coat on dramatic colour changes so the finish reads true.
Two coats of Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior, Regal Select Exterior, or Dulux Diamond Exterior. Brushed cut-ins around trim, doors, and corners. Roller or sprayed body coats depending on siding texture. Front doors and shutters are often removed and spray-finished inside a sealed plastic-sheeted enclosure we build in your garage or carport for a smoother result, then reinstalled the same day.
Every quote breaks out labour, paint, prep, primer, finish coats, and any wood repair separately. You see exactly where the money goes, and where a cheaper bid would be cutting.
Decks and fences are quoted separately as stain-and-seal projects, not paint. Different prep, different product, different lifespan expectations. Ask during the on-site walkthrough.
The two questions every exterior client asks during the walkthrough. The honest answers depend on your siding, your timeline, and what you're trying to achieve.
Paint forms a film on top of the wood. It blocks UV, hides imperfections, lets you do dramatic colour changes, and gives a clean architectural look. But when it fails, it peels, requiring full scrape before recoat.
Stain soaks into the wood. It enhances grain, weathers gracefully, and never peels. It just fades. Stain re-coats are simpler (no scraping) but your colour choices are limited to wood-tone families.
Full repaint gives you uniform colour, uniform sheen, and the 8-to-15-year warranty curve restarts on every surface. Best for fading, chalking, or homes 7+ years past their last paint.
Spot fix means scraping and repainting only the failed sections, like a south wall that bleached or a fascia run that peeled. Cheaper, faster, but the new paint will read slightly different in colour and sheen than the rest of the house.
Each siding type gets a different prep path, different primer, and sometimes a different finish product. Same crews, same standard, different toolbox.
Cedar, pine, T-1-11. Scrape, sand, knot-block primer, two coats Aura Exterior.
Vinyl-safe paint formulated for thermal expansion. Wash, light scuff, prime, two coats.
Hairline crack repair, masonry primer, elastomeric or premium acrylic for breathability.
Etching primer for adhesion. Direct-to-metal finish coats that won't chalk or flake.
Often painted in a contrasting accent. Semi-gloss for cleanability, full-coat coverage.
Removed and spray-finished inside a sealed plastic enclosure we set up in your garage or carport for a factory-grade result. Reinstalled same day.
Cleaned, scuff-sanded, primed where bare metal shows, two coats of exterior-grade paint.
Lake-climate specialty. Stain-and-seal options for cedar and pine. Cottage-country logistics.
Power wash, scrape, repair, prime, two coats of premium exterior paint. Below: real North Bay homes through the late-May-to-mid-September season.

Exterior painting season in Northern Ontario runs late May through mid-September. The key threshold is overnight lows reliably staying above 10°C, which is when modern acrylic exterior paints cure properly.
Painting earlier or later can compromise adhesion and lifespan. We book the season tight (typically full by mid-July for that calendar year), so the earlier you call, the better your scheduling options.
Exterior painting in North Bay typically costs $3,000 to $12,000 or more, depending on home size, height, siding type, and how much prep work the surfaces need.
A modest one-storey bungalow with sound siding is at the low end. A larger two-storey with scraping, caulking, wood repair, and trim or soffit work is at the high end. Every quote breaks out labour, paint, prep, primer, and finish coats separately so you see exactly where the money goes.
A properly prepped exterior painted with Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior, Regal Select Exterior, or Dulux Diamond Exterior will last 8 to 12 years on wood siding, 10 to 15 on vinyl, and 6 to 10 on stucco, depending on sun exposure, freeze-thaw cycles, and how aggressively the lake or road salt hits the surface.
Prep is what controls the lower number. Cutting prep to save money is the single biggest reason exteriors fail in five years instead of ten.
Yes, all four. Wood siding (cedar, pine, T-1-11) needs the most prep: scrape, sand, prime knots with stain-blocker, caulk gaps, two coats. Vinyl requires a vinyl-safe paint formulated for thermal expansion. Stucco needs an elastomeric or premium acrylic that bridges hairline cracks. Aluminum and metal siding need an etching primer for adhesion.
Each system gets a different prep path, but all four end with two finish coats of premium exterior paint.
Yes. Minor wood repair, fascia replacement, recaulking of windows and trim, and spot-priming bare wood are all included in our exterior quote. Major rot remediation or structural repair we coordinate with a carpenter or sub-trade.
Painting over rotten wood or failed caulking is the second-fastest way to make an exterior paint job fail. We do the repair first or we don't take the job.
